Other features
Top-notch design
FileBird uses modern UI and UX patterns, clean semantic markup, and maintainable code structure to reduce frontend complexity. The interface is optimized to minimize DOM updates and reflows, which helps keep the admin responsive even on large libraries and low-powered machines.
File browser inside page builders
Open your page builder, insert an image or media element, and browse FileBird’s native folder structure without switching contexts. This integration reduces round-trip edits, preserves editor state, and improves designer-to-developer handoffs by keeping media located and referenced consistently.
Specific folder upload
Upload batches of files or multiple folders directly into a target folder from the Upload New Media screen. This feature saves time on initial content population, preserves folder metadata for easier backups, and reduces post-upload operations that can trigger additional database writes.
Flexible library views
Choose between thumbnail and list views, sort ascending or descending, and perform bulk selections quickly. These alternative views are designed to streamline bulk operations and reduce the number of queries and user interactions required to find and manage assets.
Customizable sidebar
Resize or collapse the folder sidebar to match project needs and screen real estate. The sidebar state persists per user, enabling agencies to standardize layouts for teams and to optimize the workspace for tasks such as tagging, batch edits, or file audits.
Multi-level folder management
Create nested folder hierarchies to enable precise filtering and organization for pages, posts, and custom post types. Multi-level structures make content staging and migrations more predictable and simplify selective exports and deployments.
CMS performance optimization
FileBird is engineered to scale with growing libraries by minimizing unnecessary database queries, loading folder trees progressively, and cooperating with popular caching layers. Cleaner organization reduces admin time and ongoing maintenance costs, which improves operational efficiency for client sites.
Assistive SEO practices
A clear media hierarchy makes it faster to review and optimize alt text, captions, file URLs, and file sizes across folders. This workflow reduces the time needed for bulk SEO audits and helps agencies standardize metadata practices that improve indexability and accessibility.
Change log & safe cleanup
Every folder change is logged so teams can see who moved or deleted what and when. Combined with folder ID and a temporary holding area for removed files, this enables accountable, reversible cleanups across multi-person workflows.

FileBird solves a great big problem when you are dealing with a large number of files for image galleries. I used to have to hunt for files or search for files within the media library, now we have folders to house the assets as needed.

This plugin is such a time saver. It does exactly what it promises and it does it well. I had over 1,000 images from a vacation and FileBird saved me so much time. When I added galleries for each stop on the vacation it was so easy to select the images. Being able to bulk upload files directly into a FileBird folder is a game-changer. GET IT! You won’t regret it!
